How to Make Your Own Sorbet

Sorbet is essentially just two ingredients – fruit and sugar – truly one of the most simplistic recipes out there and easy for pleasing a crowd. Using about two pounds of fruit and a cup of sugar as your base, you can break out some pretty delicious dessert.

Here’s the basic gist:

  1. Combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan, bringing it to a boil and stirring to dissolve the sugar. Refrigerate until cold. This is your simple syrup.
  2. Wash or peel and de-seed or de-pit fruit (depending on what type you plan to use). Add to food processor and blend until completely smooth. Stir in your simple syrup mixture.
  3. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Transfer the mixture to a freezer-safe container or ice-cream maker. Freeze for about six hours. When ready to serve, scoop into chilled bowls.
